This is probably oedema, a disorder rather than a disease. It is the result of cool, wet weather and warm soil conditions. The plants take up more water than they need, causing these small clusters of cells, which may turn black as they age. Although these lumps look unsightly, the sprout buttons are still perfectly edible.
