Canker - Bacterial

Description

A disease of the stems and leaves of apricots, cherries, peaches, plums and ornamental cherries. This disease can kill its host plant if not dealt with.

Symptoms

Small brown, round spots appear later developing into holes, commonly called ‘shot hole symptoms’. In the spring sunken areas of bark develop often with a sticky, resin like jelly seeping through the bark. If the infection girdles the branch or stem, the area above the infection often dies quite rapidly. Dead, brown leaves hanging limply on the affect branches can often be seen.
