A heavy branch on my plum tree has split, what can I do?

Our Advice:

If you can, prop up the branch with a stout stake and paint the wounds with a wound paint such as; Heal and Seal from Bayer or Medo from Vitax. After you pick the fruit remove any badly damaged branches. Trim back any split limbs and bad rips or tears in the bark and treat any cuts with more of the wound paint.
