When the small buds become visible, well before any blooms open, spray your plants with Bug Clear Ultra from Scott's. This should help to control the adult midges and reduce the number of maggots damaging the buds. Pick off and destroy any galled buds as soon as they are seen. Damage by this pest usually ends by mid-summer.
