When is the best time to prune a flowering cherry tree?

Our Advice:

The best time to prune is late May- July while it is in active growth and the tree will heal pruning wounds more rapidly. This helps to reduce the chance of the tree being infected with fatal diseases like bacterial canker or silver leaf, which often enter through pruning cuts.
