When is the best time to prune a Californian lilac bush?

Our Advice:

Flowering time usually dictates when Ceanothus should be pruned. Any that flower in late summer and autumn are pruned in the following spring. Those which flower in spring and up to mid-summer are best pruned as soon as the flowers have finished.
