Home Questions

I want to make a hedge, can I grow plants from holly berries?

💡 Our Advice
Yes, collect ripe berries and mix them with damp sand, place in a refrigerator for 6-8 weeks to chill, 3-5c is ideal. In March sow the seed/sand mixture into pots of John Innes No 1 compost, place pots in a cool, shaded position outdoors and water regularly. The seeds can take up to 2 years to germinate and grow.
