How do I get my bird of paradise plant to flower?

Our Advice:

This plant usually takes 5-7 years to flower after the seed has germinated and only then when it is looked after very well. They can be grown outdoors, but must be brought in before the first frosts. Patience is crucial - along with a weak solution of tomato feed at 3-week intervals.
