Coffee grounds are a good source of slow-release nitrogen, when spread around the base of your plants. They contain about 2% nitrogen as well as small amounts of phosphorous and plenty of organic matter. They can have a low pH (about 6.2), so could gradually acidify your soil, but they help to improve soil fertility of your garden.
