How can I kill Ivy growing in a privet hedge?

Our Advice:

Push about 60cm of ivy shoots into a clear polythene bag, add a small amount of concentrate of Superfast, Long lasting, Weedkiller from Neudorff and tie the neck of the bag. The leaves will take up the chemical, killing the plant as it is taken down into the roots.
