What are the white maggots eating the roots of my strawberries?

Our Advice:

We suspect your strawberries are being attacked by vine weevil larvae, which will eat away the roots so the plant gradually dies. Water the compost with Bug Clear Ultra Vine Weevil Killer from Scott's to kill them off. If you don't want to use chemicals you can apply a biological control such as; Nemasys Vine Weevil Control,
