How do care for an Avocado plant through the winter?

Our Advice:

Avacado (Persea americana) is a tropical or subtropical tree and will not survive our winters outside. Ideally, they need a temperature of at least 10c even in the winter months. Grow it as a houseplant in winter, giving it plenty of water and light. Many parts of this plant are poisonous for domestic animals such as cats and dogs.
