The cancellation of the Chelsea Flower Show this spring leaves growers who normally launch their new varieties at the show without their usual displays. One such grower is Clematis expert Raymond Evison, who was due to announce two stunning new “patio” (short-growing) varieties that are ideal for containers as well as the border.
Both were bred and developed in Raymond Evison’s famous and environmentally-friendly Guernsey Clematis Nursery.
Available from March in garden centres who stock RE Clematis. Also by mail order on raymondevisonclematis.com
This Clematis has elegant white flowers with contrasting dark anthers and grows to 4-5ft (120-150cm). Suitable for small and large gardens, in the garden or a container.
Good with dark-coloured roses against a pergola or archway.
This Clematis has rich purple flowers that age well. It has a long flowering period and is multi-flowered growing to 4-5ft (120-150cm). Suitable for small and large gardens, in the garden or a container.
